I am not sure if I have said before but my favourite place for lunch or dinner is Wagamama. I went to my first one in Kensington in London when I was on business and was really impressed. As someone who often travelled on my own, I had finally found somewhere I could eat amazing food but not feel like a lone diner.
The team at Wagamama asked if we would like to review their St Andrew’s Square one. They wondered if we wanted to come as a family, try out their mindfulness colouring in on the placemats and have a family meal. Now Grim and I have been many a time to Wagamama and he always has his trusted Chicken Katsu Curry and I always try something new, but the chilli squid is always a winner.
I love the fact that when you order your food, it’s made to order, so they just bring it when it’s ready. The one thing I had never done is take the boys! Depending on moods, this can be a nice experience, but it can also be so frustrating.
I had obviously chosen a good day for all. When we arrived, the manager took us to our seats and paid us so much attention throughout our meal. We ordered our food, the boys wanted Mini Yaki Soba which is teppon-fried soba noodles with chicken, egg, sweetcorn, mangetout, peppers and amai sauce (the sauce is a sweet BBQ sauce that was super tasty). Buddy had Mini Chicken Katsu Curry which was Katsu Curry but you could opt for the amai sauce, which he loved. But better than that – It’s the first time ever he has eaten all of his rice and asked to have it again.
I have to say for us, it a was a really exciting lunchtime out, we had a lovely chilled day in town and as we’d got the train in we could have some wine with lunch – it was so lovely.
So if you want somewhere extremely child friendly and food that is basically smaller plates of what the adults eat, but is very tasty and pretty healthy, then you should give it a try. The boys asked when we are going back, sure fire proof that they loved it.
Well done Wagamama, we will be back soon x
